General advice for leather care.

You might usefully address your new furniture before they are put into use. For daily cleaning, it is sufficient to use a damp soft lint-free cloth with water only. Leather furniture should be vacuumed once a month (but be careful not to scratch). Never place leather furniture directly up heat sources and protect them from direct sunlight as it dries out the leather and destroys the leather properties. Wipe off immediately with a soft absorbent cloth if you spill to avoid blotches and blemishes. Never use detergent, gasoline or other chemicals on leather, as this may break down and destroy the leather. It is not a failure of the leather, but only natural. Be aware that new clothes (eg. Jeans) often contains a portion of excess dye which can easily rub off on leather furniture and it can be very difficult to remove.

NB Never use detergents, detergent, solvents or other cleaners on leather. Previously, predominantly used soap, but because of the. Amendment of the tanning process, and the fact that most soap flakes are not natural (filled with chemical additives), it is no longer the proper care for leather. Soap flakes that are not natural, drying out the leather and provide no protection.
